Wabash College announces two events to be held this fall, both of which are free and open to the public:
1) Ben-Hur 1925 Silent Film Screening + Q&A, Sept 13, 7:30 pm
2) Annual John Charles Lecture, Oct 1, 8 pm
Purdue University is hosting Kristin Mann of DePauw University on Thursday, March 29th (rescheduled from January 24th). She will deliver a lecture entitled "Babrius and the Impossible Golden Age" at 4 p.m. in WALC 1121. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.
IUPUI presents a lecture by classicist Dr. Thomas Sienkewicz "Walking the Camino de Santiago" on Wednesday, March 21st at 5:30 p.m. in Cavanaugh Hall CA 229.
Ball State will host Dr. Sviatoslav Dmitriev on Wednesday, March 21st. Dr. Dmitriev will deliver a lecture entitled "Demades, or what do we actually know about Classical Greece?" at 4 p.m. in Burkhardt Building 101. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Wabash College is pleased to announce the 9th annual John Frederick Charles Lecture in Classics and Medieval History. This endowed lecture is named for Wabash professor of Classics and of History, John "Jack" Charles, who taught at Wabash from 1940-1979. Wabash will be hosting Dr. Angelos Chaniotis of the Institute of Advanced Study in February of 2018.
The 2017 IFLTA Conference will be November 3-4 at the Sheraton at Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis. Information about Classics sessions can be found here.
AIA Lecture at DePauw University on November 2nd, 2017. Hilary Becker of the University of Mississippi will deliver the lecture, entitled "The iconography of a life in arms: the Etruscan soldier at war, at home, and at the tomb," at 8 p.m. in DePauw's Peeler Auditorium.
The 2017 meeting of the Indiana Classical Conference will be hosted by Butler University on March 17-18, 2017. The call for papers can be found here. Proposals were due January 20, 2017.

Monday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m. in 210 Matthew Hall: Professors Pedar Foss and Rebecca Schindler will deliver a lecture entitled "Shaping a Landscape Between Lakes: The Lago Trasimeno Regional Archaeology Project."

Friday, April 21 at 12 noon (room TBD): Professor Holly Sypniewski (Millsaps College) will be speaking on graffiti from Pompeii and Herculaneum.

- Description: General Lew Wallace wrote the novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ at his residence here in Crawfordsville. The novel became so popular that it was adapted into a stage play in 1899, and into several motion pictures, including the 1959 Academy Award-winning film. Join us for a screening of the 1925 silent film version. The Director of the Lew Wallace Study, Larry Paarlberg, will be on campus to introduce the film and to lead a short Q&A after the screening. Sponsored by the Departments of Art, Classics, History, and Religion, and by the Lew Wallace Study.
2) Annual John Charles Lecture, Oct 1, 8 pm

- Description: Dr. Dimitri Nakassis, Professor of Classics at the University of Colorado, Boulder and a 2015 MacArthur Fellow will present the annual John Charles Lecture: "Deciphering the Age of Heroes: Texts, Archaeology, and Legends of Bronze Age Greece."
